Weekly Review: 9/25/2017 - 9/28/2017

Math:  We reviewed addition facts, learned how to flip an addition fact, examined pattern blocks, counted by ones and tens, wrote the digital time, and learned how to illustrate word problems.

IEW: As a class, we are reading Shel Silverstein poems and illustrating them. We are also picking interesting keywords within the poems and creating new sentences with those words.

Riggs: As mentioned in our last post, we began our spelling words, along with our spelling word homework. The kids are falling into a good rhythm and I wanted to thank you for the oversight you are giving them on their homework. As an aside, if you need Riggs paper for homework, please know that you or your student can grab some from our supply cart at any time.

Core Knowledge: We finished up our unit on Geography and began our study of Mesopotamia. This week we studied the geography of Mesopotamia and wrote in cuneiform. We will continue to learn about other Mesopotamian inventions this week.

Guided Reading: Students are now moving into reading groups and receiving coaching and instruction from me both individually and as a group. I spent the week refining levels and am eager to jump into next week's lessons!
