1/2/2018 - 1/25/2018 Update

Math: We are adding two digit numbers! We are also reviewing patterns, creating number sentences, counting money, writing the time, writing and illustrating fractions, and completing word problems.

IEW: We are currently writing about the human body.

Riggs: Every morning we test 30 words. We receive five new words each day, and the first five words on the list that day drop off for the following day. So our spelling words are a rolling list of 30. Check student’s Riggs notebooks for check-marks beside words. These are words they need to practice for homework—along with their new five words that they receive each day. Their new words are the last five words written in their Riggs notebook. They are also written in their planner each day. We are also reviewing multi-letter phonograms.

Guided Reading: In guided reading we are currently reading fiction and nonfiction books about snow. With these books, we are furthering our knowledge of vocabulary and reading strategies. We will also be doing some crafts and activities to further our comprehension of the texts.

Core Knowledge: We have started our human body unit! We are currently learning about the skeletal system, but we will also learn about the circulatory system, digestive system, muscular system, and nervous system. We would love to have some volunteer speakers if you-or someone you know-works in a health related field. MAD Science will also be here January 19th to do some human body experiments!
