I thought it might be helpful to share with you our Beanie Baby Reading Buddies. These buddies help us with reading strategies. I refer to them when students are trying to figure out a word they do not know. I also purchased the actual beanie baby (off Amazon) that matches each strategy, and we use them in class while reading. They can hold a beanie baby while they read, or look at them to pick a strategy to use when they are stuck on a word. They seem to really love their reading friends! Try using some of these strategies with your student at home.
