December 4-13 Update

Math: We are adding numbers to find sums of 13 & 14. We are also reviewing patterns, creating number sentences, counting money, writing the time, writing numbers least to greatest, and practicing illustrating word problems.

IEW: We are currently writing about the book The Snow Day by Ezra Jack Keats.

Riggs: Every morning we test 30 words. We receive five new words each day, and the first five words on the list that day drop off for the following day. So our spelling words are a rolling list of 30. Check student’s Riggs notebooks for check-marks beside words. These are words they need to practice for homework—along with their new five words that they receive each day. Their new words are the last five words written in their Riggs notebook. They are also written in their planner each day. We are also reviewing multi-letter phonograms.

Guided Reading: In guided reading we are currently practicing our Readers Theater on The Gingerbread Man. Each student has a part in the play. We are performing The Gingerbread Man for our seventh grade buddies tomorrow, December 14, 2017.

Core Knowledge: We are wrapping up our unit on Mexico and Three World Religions. Last week we had a fiesta! I will post some pictures from our fiesta. We are also on a TOP SECRET mission from Mrs. Macy, The Peppermint Tea Disaster. We are learning about all the different cultural celebrations around the world and reporting them back to Mrs. Macy! Yesterday we "took a trip" to Holland.

I wanted to thank all of you for the support so far this year. I cannot believe it is already time for Winter Break. Happy Holidays!
